We work 12-hour shifts, changing at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Our primary responsibility is responding to 911 calls.
Yankton County EMS responds to around 2,200 calls for service per year, covering a 500 square mile service area in Yankton County and South Yankton, Nebraska with a coverage area population of nearly 25,000 residents.
We transport patients to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital (ASHH) in Yankton, a five-story facility that features a 10-bed emergency department with 24-hour physician care, a 10-bed ICU, a diagnostic cath lab, pharmacy and dedicated med/surg patient floor.
Yankton County EMS also provides inter-facility transfers from ASHH to larger facilities in Sioux Falls and Sioux City when we are available, but 911 calls are always our priority.
Yankton County EMS offers a professional, team-oriented, friendly environment with clean, well-maintained and up-to-date fleet vehicles and equipment. Our large facility offers a day room, kitchen and multiple sleeping quarters with TVs.
